Zhao Rongxin Model Worker Innovation Studio Awarded "Yangtze River Delta Model Worker Craftsman Innovation Studio"
Recently, at the 2024 Joint Conference for Promoting High-Quality Integrated Development of the Yangtze River Delta, the Model Worker Innovation Studio led by Zhao Rongxin, General Manager of Shanghai Institute of Building Science Research Co., Ltd (SRIBS) was awarded the title of the third "Yangtze River Delta Model Worker Craftsman Innovation Studio."
The selection of the Model Worker Craftsman Innovation Studio in the Yangtze River Delta was jointly organized by the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions, the Jiangsu Federation of Trade Unions, the Zhejiang Federation of Trade Unions, and the Anhui Federation of Trade Unions. The purpose is to strengthen the reform of the industrial worker team construction in the new era and promote the development of a high-skilled talent team in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The "Zhao Rongxin Model Worker Innovation Studio," led by Zhao Rongxin, a model worker from the Ministry of Construction, was approved in 2019 as a Model Worker Innovation Studio by the Municipal Construction and Transportation Trade Union. In 2020, it was named as the 10th batch of "Shanghai Model Worker Innovation Studios" by the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions.
The studio currently has 39 members, including 5 senior engineers at the professor level, 15 senior engineers, 9 Ph.D. holders, and 27 Master's degree holders. The team covers a wide range of fields, including bridge engineering, structural engineering, machine vision, artificial intelligence, mechanical engineering, and other specialized areas.
Under the guidance of the studio's leading experts, 19 members have received various prestigious honors, including the Shanghai Oriental Talent Plan, Shanghai Craftsman, Shanghai Outstanding Technical Leader, and the Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Talent Plan. The studio has also won 19 scientific and technological innovation awards, such as the Special Award from the Shanghai Highway Society and the Second Prize from the China Transportation Association. Additionally, the studio has applied for 32 invention patents, with 16 granted, 17 utility model patents authorized, and 30 software copyrights.
In recent years, the studio has undertaken 29 projects, including key national and municipal initiatives on smart operation and maintenance for urban bridges, low-impact construction for expressways, and digital bridge inspection. These projects have received 6.4 million yuan in government funding and 15.38 million yuan in enterprise investment.
The studio provides R&D and consulting services for transportation and municipal infrastructure, focusing on technology development and supporting major projects. It fosters innovation, enhances employees' skills, and cultivates talent to set a role model for enterprises and society.
The studio's innovations have been applied in major projects across several provinces, including the Nanpu and Xihumen Bridges, and Shanghai and Shaoxing metros. It has serviced over 5,000 bridges and 1,800 km of tunnels, generating over 900 million yuan in output in the past three years, driving digital and smart advancements in the bridge and tunnel sectors, and supporting China’s digital and transportation strategies.
